x-Coordinate
Definition

An x-coordinate is the first element in an ordered pair. When an ordered pair is graphed as the coordinates of a point in the coordinate plane, the x-coordinate represents the directed distance of the point from the y-axis.

Another name for the x-coordinate is the abscissa.

Note: The y-coordinate or ordinate represents the directed distance of the point from the x-axis.
