Tim Coates
Tim Coates worked for a number of years as a senior high school social studies teacher, spending most of this time at John Maland High School in Devon. In 1994, Tim was seconded to Alberta Education to design and develop the Social Studies 33 Diploma Examination. He managed this examination for a number of years before becoming the Examination Manager for Social Studies 30. In 2005, Tim became the Director of Humanities Diploma Examinations.
In recent years, Tim has served as the chairperson of the Assessment Committee of the National Council for the Social Studies in the United States, and in that position crafted the NCSS position statement on No Child Left Behind. Tim has also made numerous presentations in the United States on assessment issues. Tim spends the majority of his leisure time coaching soccer and doing home improvements.
