Kent den Heyer: Expanding the Circle of Knowledge
Ken den Heyer discusses ways that the new social studies curriculum provides an opportunity to elevate the practice of teaching. In this presentation, he argues that the best potential of the new curriculum can be actualized by working with students to enhance their 3 ‘s’ understanding: what social studies can tell students about their actual and potential democratic relationships to society. In making this argument, he explores curriculum as a wisdom practice organized around “throughline” questions.
