Definition

"Multiplier" is the name given to a number used to multiply another number.

Another name for "multiplier" is "factor".

Note that both 3 and 2 are also called factors.


Example Two

(5.8x)(2.3x) = 13.34x2


5.8x is the multiplicand.

2.3x is the multiplier.

13.34x2 is the product.

Example Three

3(2x - 5) = 6x - 15


3 is the multiplicand.

2x - 5 is the multiplier.

6x - 15 is the product.
