Definition

"Product" is the name given to the result of multiplying a set of factors together.


Example One

3 x 2 = 6


3 is the multiplicand.

2 is the multiplier.

6 is the product.


Note that 3 and 2 are also called factors.

Example Two

(5.8x)(2.3x) = 13.34x2


5.8x is the multiplicand.

2.3x is the multiplier.

13.34x2 is the product.


Note that 5.8x and 2.3x are also called factors.


Example Three

3(2x - 5) = 6x - 15


3 is the multiplicand.

2x - 5 is the multiplier.

6x - 15 is the product.


Note that 3 and 2x - 5 are also called factors.
